Jesus Fulfills the Law
SERIES: Sermon on the Mount
PASSAGE: Matthew 5:17-20
Sermon Introduction: When our founding fathers made the first laws here in America they were based on the Judeo-Christian conception of justice. Morality and law came from God and God didn’t change. That conception of the law held for almost 200 years in America. Now the solid foundation of God’s absolute morality is being replaced with the shifting sand of a law defined by whatever society deems impermissible. Let’s contrast that to what Jesus states in the Sermon on the Mount.
