Child Dedication

Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving Weekends

Child dedication is recognition that God gave us our children and that we owe Him thanks and praise.  The Bible says,

“Children are a heritage of the Lord, children a reward from Him (Psalm 127:3).”

In dedication, parents recognize that they will need the help of God to set direction and purpose for their children’s lives.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up (Deuteronomy 6:6,7).”

Dedication recognizes the benefit and blessing of being raised in a Christian family.  Romans 12:5 says,

“In Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

Child dedication is far more than a religious formality.  Dedication is a meaningful statement of gratitude to God for the gift of a child, a formal request for God’s help in child rearing and a commitment of both parents and church community to work for the spiritual success of each precious child.

Child Dedication services are held during the weekend Worship Services on Mothers’ Day and Thanksgiving Weekends for the Cornerstone family.
